Award of decoration
The President of the Republic was excoriated by his Cape Verde counterpart Pedro Pires with the First Degree of the Order of "Amílcar Cabral", at the beginning of a two day State Visit to Cape Verde.
After a first meeting between the two Heads of State in the City of Praia Presidential Palace, Pedro Pires awarded the decoration to President Aníbal Cavaco Silva, who delivered an address in thanks.
Later, the Presidents of the two countries made statements to the members of the media present at the Palace.
