Message of congratulations addressed by the President of the Republic to the President elect of the Republic of Colombia

The President of the Republic addressed a message of congratulations to the President of the Republic of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, on his election to office.

Following is the text of the message of congratulations from President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

"Mister President Elect,

On the occasion of Your Excellency’s election as President of the Republic of Colombia, I want to address you, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations and our most sincere wishes for success in the high office you have been called upon to perform by the People of Colombia.

I am certain that during the course of Your Excellency’s mandate, the close bonds of friendship and cooperation which exist between Portugal and Colombia will continue to become deeper and further developed, for the benefit of our two Peoples and Countries.

Renewing my most sincere wishes for your personal well being and for the prosperity and progress of the People of Colombia, please accept, Mister President Elect, my highest personal regards.
