The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of author José Saramago.
Following is the text of the President’s message:
"Worldwide famous author, justly awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, José Saramago will always remain a prime figure of our culture.
On behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, I render tribute to the memory of José Saramago, whose vast literary work should be read and become known by future generations.
To the Author’s Family I address my deepest condolences.
