The President of the Republic addressed a message to the National Football Team which will take part in the final stage of the World Cup, held in South Africa.
Following is the text of the President’s message:
"I wish all the members of the National Football Team, who will take part in the final stage of the World Cup, the best of successes in this important competition.
Players and technical team are well aware that all the Portuguese trust them with their confidence and have the expectation that, with drive and sporting spirit, will provide their best competitive effort to reach results which will provoke everyone’s joy and pride.
I am certain that our Team will feel the support and the encouragement of those that, at a distance, will accompany their games, but also that of the Portuguese who live in South Africa, who will surely demonstrate their care and enthusiasm.
On behalf of all the Portuguese and in my own personal name I address the National Team best wishes for their success in the competition and personal happiness.
