1. The President of the Republic requested today from the Constitutional Court the preventive assessment of the constitutionality of item a) of §1 of article no. 112 of the Parliamentary decree approving the review of the Labour Code.
2. The provision being queried, which extends to 180 days the trial period of workers in general, raises specific doubts, in the case of non specialized work, as to its conformity with the demands of the principle of proportionality of legislation restricting rights, freedom and guarantees. Such doubts, where legislation as important as the Labour Code is concerned, should be cleared before it comes into force.
3. In the terms of §8 of article no. 278 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic requested that a decision be taken within 15 days.
