At the invitation of the President of the Republic, Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden will be on a State Visit to Portugal, from 5 to 7 May 2008.
The Kings of Sweden will be welcomed at the Palace of Belém by the President of the Republic, who will host a Banquet in their honour to be held in the Palace of Ajuda. The Official Programme will include meetings with the Speaker of Parliament and with the Prime Minister.
The Official Programme will also include a symposium on renewable energies and environmental technologies, jointly organized by the Swedish Export Council and by the Portuguese Industrial Association, as well as a visit to a manufacturing plant for photoelectric cells and a research project on renewable energies.
The Royal Retinue will consist of the Ministers for Environment, Mister Andreas Carlgren, and for Migration, Mister Tobias Billstrom, as well as a trade and industry deputation led by Mrs. Signhild Arnegård Hansen, President of the Swedish Trade and Industry Association.
