Exhibition open to the public
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva officially opened, in the Palace of Belém, the exhibition “Sights over the Infant Jesus”, the Christmas Tree and the Christmas Supper Table.
The exhibition, which will be open to the public until January 6 and has on show approximately one hundred pieces dated from the 16th to the 20th centuries, was jointly organized by the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic and by the Lisbon Patriarchate, and is the largest collection ever organized in Portugal on this topic. The pieces were loaned by churches and convents of the Lisbon parishes.
The Municipal Children’s Choir of the Maia Infant Singers and the Lisbon Gospel Group performed during the inaugural ceremony, in the presence of dozens of children from the Parish of Belém.
