The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of choreographer and ballerina Luna Andermatt
Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:
“Upon receiving the news of the passing away of choreographer and ballerina Luna Andermatt, I address my deep condolences to the bereaved Family and to all those who worked with her to dignify the art of ballet dancing in our Country.
A major figure in Portuguese 20th century artistic circles, and internationally acclaimed, Luna Andermatt fulfilled amongst us an irreplaceable role towards the recognition, teaching and dissemination of ballet dancing. Whether on stage, in the National Conservatory or in television, her art and her example decisively contributed to the valuing of our culture.
On behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, I render sincere tribute to the memory of Luna Andermatt.
