President of the Republic congratulated cyclist Rui Costa upon winning the world road racing championship

The President of the Republic sent a message of congratulations to cyclist Rui Costa upon his winning of the world road racing championships held in Florence, Italy.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“Upon receiving the news of your having achieved the title of world cycling champion in the world road racing championships held in Florence, Italy, I warmly congratulate you on this excellent result.

The victory you obtained is the result of much work, dedication and determination, crucial factors for success in sports events.

The title achieved confirms a consolidated course and a career marked, in the last few months, by several triumphs in national and international events.

Please accept my congratulations and my sincere wishes for your personal well being and success in sports.
