President of the Republic sent condolences to the Family of Prof. Doctor Manuel da Costa Lobo

The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of town planner and university professor in the Higher Institute of Technology, Manuel da Costa Lobo.

Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:

“I was deeply distressed to learn the news of the passing away of Prof. Doctor Manuel da Costa Lobo, university professor in the Higher Institute of Technology and one of the forerunners of town planning in Portugal.

Individuality with the greatest national and international prestige, deeply driven by civic objectives, Manuel da Costa Lobo was the author of several town planning projects in Portugal and in other European and Worldwide countries.

Strongly conscious of the relevance of urban specialists in the resolution of country planning issues and on the multidisciplinary and transversal features of urbanism, Manuel da Costa Lobo symbolized a generation of professionals.

In this hour of mourning, I render public recognition to Prof Doctor Manuel da Costa Lobo and address my sincere condolences to the bereaved Family.

Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
