The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of plastic artist Eduardo Nery.
Following is the text of the message of condolences from President Cavaco Silva:
I received the news of the passing away of Eduardo Nery with the deepest of regrets. He was a plastic artist to whom Portuguese culture will owe some of the most significant works of the past decades and whom I had the pleasure to pay a tribute in last year’s celebrations of the National Day of Portugal.
Gifted with great curiosity and capacity for innovation, Eduardo Nery remains associated with widely diversified artistic displays, from painting to tapestry, photography and, very specially, with ceramic tiles, bequeathing with all of these deeply original images a very relevant contribution for the urban qualification of several districts and locations throughout the Country.
On behalf of the Portuguese and in my own personal name, I address our heartfelt condolences to Eduardo Nery’s bereaved Family.
