The President of the Republic addressed a message to King Don Juan Carlos I, on the occasion of the National Day of Spain.
Following is the text of the message sent by President Cavaco Silva:
“Majesty,
My Dear Friend
On the occasion of the celebrations of the National Day of Spain, I am very pleased in expressing to Your Majesty, on behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations, equally begging you to accept our very best wishes for Your Majesty’s well being, as well as that of Her Majesty Queen Dona Sofia and of all the Royal Family, as well as for the growing prosperity and progress of the Spanish nation.
I recall with great pleasure our last meting in Madrid, on the occasion of the award to Portugal of the Nueva Economia Forum Prize and of the VII COTEC Europa Meeting, which once again unfolded the excellence and the dynamism that stamps our bilateral relationship and that projects itself in the diversified fields in which our interests converge. I am certain that we will jointly know how to continue enriching and expanding this mutual legacy of cooperation.
Renewing my congratulations, I beg you to accept, Majesty and my Dear Friend, my highest regards and personal esteem.
Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
