The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the President of the French Republic, Nicolas Sarkozy, over the victims of the assault that took place in a Jewish School in Toulouse
Following is the text of the message of condolences of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
“Mister President,
I was deeply distressed and extremely shocked when receiving the news of the infamous and cowardly assault that was carried out in a Jewish school in Toulouse, which resulted in the death of three children and a teacher, innocent and defenceless victims of an act that is an offence to the values on which our societies are based.
The Portuguese share the suffering and the mourning of the people of France and, very particularly, of the victims’ families, to whom I beg Your Excellency to transmit our feelings of deepest regrets and solidarity.
Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
