The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to King Albert II of the Belgians, over the victims of the traffic accident occurred in the Swiss region of Valais.
Following is the text of the message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
“Majesty,
I was deeply shocked and desolated when learning the news of the tragic consequences of the accident occurred in the Swiss region of Valais, with a coach carrying Belgian citizens, from which resulted the loss of human lives, mainly those of young children.
In this moment of suffering and mourning, our thoughts go to the victims’ families, to whom we beg Your Majesty would forward, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our most sincere condolences and feelings of deepest solidarity.
