The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of actor, director, author and presenter Igrejas Caeiro.

Following is the text of the message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:

“On behalf of all the Portuguese and in my own personal name I address my deepest condolences to the Family of Igrejas Caeiro, an individuality that stamped the cultural and civic life of our Country during the last half century.

Due to his work in the theatre, in the cinema and, above all, on the radio, as well as in Parliament, Igrejas Caeiro is an example of dedication to the arts and to the public cause that made itself felt throughout successive generations and that we all recall with admiration.

In this hour of mourning, especially to his Family and friends, I pay this tribute to the man of culture and driving citizen that was Igrejas Caeiro
