The President of the Republic addressed a message of condolences to the Family of conductor Manuel Ivo Cruz.
Following is the text of the message of condolences addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
“Upon being advised of the passing away of conductor Manuel Ivo Cruz, I address to the bereaved Family my very deepest condolences.
As a worthy conductor and composer he was equally singled out as a writer on music and a devotee of History, and his name is linked to several orchestras and artistic or musical institutions of great relevance.
With his exceptional talent, conductor Manuel Ivo Cruz markedly contributed to the national and international prestige of various cultural initiatives.
His passing away is a great loss to Portuguese musical culture.
