The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to athlete Jessica Augusto, who has achieved the title of European Cross-Country Champion and to the National Senior Feminine Team, collective winner of the European Cross-Country Championship, held in the Açoteias circuit, Algarve.
Following is the text of the message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"I congratulate athlete Jessica Augusto for the brilliant victory achieved in the Açoteias, Algarve, Cross-Country Race, thus achieving the title of European Champion.
It is the first time a Portuguese athlete gains this prestigious title in the main European Cross-Country race that, as an individual feat, dignifies national athletics.
I also congratulate the Portuguese Team for having conquered, for the third time running, the European title in this sport.
