The President of the Republic addressed a message of congratulations to the President elect of Brazil, Dilma Rousseff, winner of the elections that were held in that country.
Following is the text of the message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"Having just been advised of Your Excellency’s victory in the elections for the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil, I want to address you, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our warmest congratulations and wishes for the greatest of success in the exercise of the exalted duties that the People of Brazil have called upon you.
I am certain that Your Excellency’s mandate will contribute towards a renewed opportunity to deepen our relationship and our concerted strategy. Your Excellency may trust me in my firmest personal drive in that same sense.
Hoping to have the honour to receive you in Portugal very soon, I reiterate my sincere congratulations and beg you to accept my very best wishes for Your Excellency’s personal well being and for the continued prosperity and progress of the fraternal Brazilian People.
