The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to judo players João Pina and Telma Monteiro, on the results achieved in the finals of the Judo World Championships being held in Vienna.
Following is the text of the message addressed by President Aníbal Cavaco Silva:
"I congratulate Portuguese athlete João Pina for having achieved the title of European Judo Champion, in the 73 kg category, a brilliant result in the European championships currently being held in Vienna. The gold medal won by athlete João Pina in this important competition is a great honour for national Sports.
It is equally fair to congratulate athlete Telma Monteiro, for having achieved in the same Vienna European Championships, the bronze medal in the 57 kg category, a further marker in this already internationally renowned athlete’s record.
