Message of congratulations from the President of the Republic to the Rt. Hon. Manuel Clemente, appointed as Bishop of Porto
On the occasion of Your Excellency’s appointment as Bishop of Porto, I wish to address you my warmest greetings and sincere wishes for success in the exercise of your new and exalted Episcopal duties.

The choice of Your Excellency to direct the Porto Diocese is a natural distinction to whoever has had the opportunity to meet the religionist, theologian, historian, and academician, but, above all, the human, social and cultural personality.

Renewing my congratulations please accept, My Lord Bishop, the full extent of my personal consideration and esteem.
