The President of the Republic addressed a congratulatory message to Professor Cleonice Berardinelli, for having been elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters.
Following is the text of the message:
"Madam Professor,
Upon being advised of your election to the Brazilian Academy of Letters, I wish to warmly congratulate you and express, on behalf of the people of Portugal and in my own personal name, our gratification and great joy for an extremely fair decision which recognizes the merit of a notable work and a singular task on behalf of the knowledge and projection of the Portuguese language.
Renewing my congratulations, I beg you to accept, Professor Cleonice Berardinelli, my highest esteem and personal regards.
Aníbal Cavaco Silva"
