The President of the Republic sent a message to the President of the People’s sent a message to the President of the People’s Republic of China, Hu Jintao, on the occasion of the country’s National.
Following is the text of the message:
"Mister President,
On the occasion of the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Chinese People’s Republic, I am very pleased to address Your Excellency, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our most sincere congratulations and our best wishes for your personal well being and for the progress and prosperity of the People of China.
Portugal and China commemorate, this year, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as the 10th anniversary of the Macau Special Administrative Region, finalizing a transition process which was an example of international cooperation. Linked by solid and secular bonds of friendship, our two countries enjoy these days a Strategic Cooperation, which asserts itself in various levels and which, I am certain, will find new opportunities of deepening and strengthening in the future.
Renewing my congratulations, I beg you to accept, Mister President, my very highest regard.
