The President of the Republic sent the following congratulatory message to Vanessa Fernandes, who won the fifth consecutive victory in the European Triathlon Championship:
"In my own personal name and on behalf of all the Portuguese, I wish to congratulate you for the extraordinary victory you conquered today, in Lisbon, earning the fifth consecutive European Triathlon title.
This unknown feat in the history of the Triathlon leaves us with a deep feeling of regard for the extraordinary career which you have been building and that greatly contributes towards the value and the projection of athletic sports in Portugal.
Please accept, once more, my congratulations and sincere wishes for your personal happiness and sports activities.
