The President of the Republic addressed a message of regret and solidarity to the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, following the outrages occurred in San Bernardino, California.
Following is the text of the message from President Cavaco Silva:
“Mister President,
I was deeply grieved when hearing the news of the outrage perpetrated in San Bernardino, California, in the Inland Regional Centre. The loss of human lives in violent and barbarous acts such as these deserve the most forceful condemning and disavowal.
In this moment of suffering and mourning, I wish to express to Your Excellency and to the North-American People, particularly to the victims’ families, on behalf of the People of Portugal and in my own personal name, our feelings of deepest sorrow, as well as our heartfelt solidarity.
Aníbal Cavaco Silva”
