The President of the Republic received, in audience, Ambassador João Bernardo de Oliveira Martins Weinstein, to whom he delivered letters credential as Portuguese diplomatic representative in Bucharest, Romania.
At the beginning of the State Visit he is carrying out in Portugal, the President of the East Timor Peoples’ Republic, Taur Matan Ruak, held a meeting, in the Palace of Belém, with President Cavaco Silva.

The President of the Republic bestowed the title of Honorary Member of the Order of Public Education on the Portuguese Scouts Association, on the occasion of the celebration of their one hundredth anniversary, in a ceremony held in the Palace of Belém.
