The President in the Whale Museum
In the continuance of his visit to the North American State of Massachusetts, the President of the Republic was guided round the New Bedford Whale Museum,where he saw the "Azores", "From New Bedford We Set Sail" and "Sperm Whale" centres, as well as the "House of the Dinghies", where a whale fishing boat built by two Portuguese was shown to him.
Bristol school received a visit from the President
The President of the Republic visited Bristol Community College, in the North American State of Massachusetts, to which he donated a set of works for the school’s Section of Portuguese Literature.
Fall River received a Presidential visit
The President of the Republic visited Fall River, in the North American State of Massachusetts, where he was shown the replica of the Portals of the city of Ponta Delgada and took part in a luncheon in his honour hosted by the local Portuguese-American Entrepreneur’s Alliance.
Meeting in Boston
President Cavaco Silva met, in Boston, with Portuguese descendants of the Massachusetts and Rhode Island areas.
Meeting and dinner in Hudson
The President of the Republic held a meeting, in the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Hudson, Massachusetts, with the Portuguese residing in the area, to which he later hosted a dinner.
Reception in Boston
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva hosted, in Boston, a reception in honour of the “Friends of Portugal”.
Meeting with Community representatives
In the continuance of his visit to the United States, the President of the Republic met, during his visit to Boston, with the USA Section of the Council of the Portuguese Communities.

The President of the Republic met, during his visit to Boston, with members of Portuguese-American Post-Graduate Society, whom he later hosted for lunch.
Deval Patrick received by the President
In his visit to the United States, now joining the resident Portuguese Communities, the President of the Republic received, in audience, the Governor of the State of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick.
Gala dinner held in Washington
On the occasion of the opening of the Exhibition “Encompassing the Globe: Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th centuries”, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended a gala dinner in their honour, held in the Freer Gallery of Art / Arthur M. Sackler Gallery.
