Dinner in the Presidential Palace
Concluding the programme of the first day of the State Visit to Poland, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva were the guests of honour at a banquet hosted by the Polish Head of State and Mrs. Lech Kaczynski.
In the old city of the Polish capital
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva visited the historical centre of Warsaw, as foreseen in the programme of the official visit to Poland, held at the invitation of President Lech Kaczynski.
Closure of Seminar
Included in the programme of the Head of State’s visit to Warsaw, Presidents Aníbal Cavaco Silva and Lech Kaczynski attended the closure of the Seminar “Portugal-Poland Economic Relations”, where both addressed speeches alluding to the subject matter.
Monument to the Unknown Warrior
Continuing his Visit of State to Poland, the President of the Republic visited the Monument to the Unknown Warrior and the Monument to the Heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto, in both of which he laid wreaths of flowers. This was followed by a visit to the Warsaw Museum of Insurrection.
Meeting in the Warsaw Presidential Palace
Commencing his Visit of State to Poland, the President of the Republic held meetings with his Polish counterpart Lech Kaczynski, after the welcoming ceremonies in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw had been finished.
Arrival in the Polish capital
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva arrived in Warsaw to commence, on Tuesday, a State Visit to Poland, at the invitation of the Polish Head of State, Lech Kaczynski.
The President of the Republic enacted today as law Parliamentary Decree No. 240/X, which authorizes the Government to legislate on the obligatory installation of an electronic licensing device in all motor vehicles.
August Fair in Grândola
The President of the Republic presided at the opening ceremony of the August Fair, an annual event which is held in Grândola.
Inaugural ceremony
The President of the Republic presided today at the inaugural ceremony of the Continuous Health Care Unit of Odemira Almshouse, where he unveiled an allusive plaque.
Communiqué
1. The President of the Republic decided today to send back to Parliament Decree No. 232/X which approves the Juridical Regime of Divorce, requesting that it be subject to reappraisal, based upon the lack of protection of the spouse who is placed in a weaker position – generally the wife – as well as that of the under age progeny, to which, in practice, the legislation can lead to, as is outlined in the message sent to Members of Parliament.
