The President with the prize winners
The President of the Republic attended, in Parliament, the award ceremony of the North-South Prizes of the Council of Europe to Queen Rania and to Dr. Jorge Sampaio.
Reis Abdullah II and Rania of Jordan in Belém
King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, commenced a State Visit to Portugal, at the invitation of the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva. Upon arrival at the Palace of Belém the monarchs were greeted with military honours.
Preview of film by João Botelho
The President of the Republic attended the preview, in the S.Carlos National Theatre, of the film “The Court of the North”, directed by João Botelho, based on the novel by Agustina Bessa Luís.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a deputation from the Public Prosecution Magistrates Trades Union.
At the invitation of the President of the Republic, Their Majesties the King and Queen of Jordan will hold an Official Visit to Portugal on 16 and 17 March. The Jordanian retinue will include several members of the Government, as well as a significant entrepreneurial mission.
The President of the Republic signed an order appointing as members of the Organizing Committee of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, chaired by Doctor António Barreto, the following individualities: Dr. Pedro Manuel Guedes de Passos Canavarro, Dr. Maria de Lurdes Asseiro Luz, Colonel António Manuel Garcia Correia and Dr. Pedro Rapoula.
Banquet in the Palace of Ajuda
The President of the Republic hosted a banquet, in the National Palace of Ajuda, in honour of the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, within the programme of his State Visit to Portugal.
The President of the Republic and the President of Angola held a meeting in the Palace of on the first day of the State Visit to Portugal of José Eduardo dos Santos.
Império Square
At the beginning of a State Visit to Portugal, the President of the Republic welcomed the President of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, in the Jerónimos Monastery, where a Military Ceremony took place which included the playing of the Angolan and Portuguese national anthems, a 21 gun salute and a review and march past of the Guard of Honour.
Visit to AMI
The 5th Campaign of the Route to Inclusion, with which the President of the Republic wished to mark the third year of his mandate, was concluded with a visit to the facilities of the AMI Foundation – Northern Branch, also known as the Friendly Door Centre of Porto.
