Photographic Exhibition
The exhibition "Between Public and Private – Presidential Pictures", jointly organized by the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic and the Historical Archive of Matosinhos City Council, was officially opened in the city’s Municipal Gallery, and will be on show to the public until 14 June.
Exhibition in Caminha
Jointly with the Caminha Town Council, the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic officially opened the exhibition "Sidónio Pais – President of the Portuguese Republic", which will remain open to the public until 11 October next in the Caminha Council Gallery.
Prof. Sydney Brenner decorated
The President of the Republic visited, in Oeiras, the Gulbenkian Science Institute, where he decorated Prof. Sydney Brenner, President of the GSI Scientific Committee, with the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator.
The President of the Republic decided not to enact the Parliamentary decree which approves the Law on pluralism and the non concentration of the media.
Concerning this decision, the Presidency of the Republic makes public the following communiqué:

Excellency,
Having received, to be enacted, Parliamentary Decree No. 280/X, which approves the Law on pluralism and non concentration of the media, I have decided, in the terms of Article No. 136 of the Constitution, not to enact it based upon the following precepts:
Decoration awarded in Air Force Base No. 1
The President of the Republic visited Air Force Base No. 1, presided at the Military Ceremony and awarded this Unit the Honorary Membership of the Military Order of the Tower and Sword, of Valour, Loyalty and Merit.
The Official Programme for the Commemoration of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities that, in 2009, will take place in Santarém, is published as follows.
Christ the King Sanctuary
The President of the Republic attended, in the Sanctuary of Christ the King, in Almada, the Commemorative Ceremony of the 50th Anniversary of the monument to Christ the King.
On the last day of the of the State Visit to Turkey, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva travelled to Cappadocia, where they visited the Tokali Church, the Open Air Museum and the Dark Church.
Speaking to the media
On the eve of terminating his State Visit to Turkey, the President of the Republic met with members of the Portuguese media, to whom he related the results reached in the meetings he held with the Turkish authorities.
