President opens exhibition
The President of the Republic officially opened the exhibition “Portugal in the Trenches – The I War of the Republic”, which will be open to the public until 23 April, in the Polytechnic Museums, in Lisbon.
Mihai Ghimpu received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the interim President of the Republic and Speaker of the Parliament of Moldavia, Mihai Ghimpu.
Meeting in Belém
The President of the Republic met with the Presidents of the Societies of Physicians, Pharmacists, Medical Dentists and Nurses, whom he later hosted for luncheon.
Following the heavy storms which ravaged the Madeira Autonomous Region, to express his regrets to the victims’ families, render solidarity to the affected people and ascertain the measure of the losses suffered, the President of the Republic will travel to the Region next Wednesday, 24 February, where he will arrive early in the afternoon.
Statement in the Palace of Belém
Attending to the consequences of the heavy storm in the Madeira Autonomous Region, the President of the Republic issued a statement, in the Palace of Belém, expressing his regrets to the victims’ families and his solidarity with the people of Madeira.

In the Palace of Ajuda
The President of the Republic hosted, in the Palace of Ajuda, a banquet in the honour of his Guinea Bissau counterpart, Malam Bacai Sanhá, who is carrying out an official visit to Portugal.

Military honours in the Palace of Belém
The President of the Republic of Guinea Bissau, Malam Bacai Sanhá, began an official two day visit to Portugal, at the invitation of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva, with a tribute paid to Luís Vaz de Camões in the Jerónimos Monastery and military honours upon arrival at the Palace of Belém.
