Visit to the production area
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in S. Martinho do Bispo, Coimbra, of the new manufacturing unit of the Bluepharma pharmaceutical company, and visited the Production and Research & Development areas.

Concluding a programme dedicated to the large transplant units in Portugal, the President of the Republic visited, in the Coimbra University Hospitals, the Histocompatibility and Heart and Chest Surgery Centres.
IPO Transplant Centre
The President of the Republic visited the Medulla Transplant Unit of the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Lisbon, viewed the clinical departments where he spoke to the professionals on duty, following this with a visit to the Paediatric Daily Hospital.

Included in the programme of a visit to three units with great activity, technical relevance and pioneering in transplants in Portugal, the President of the Republic visited, in Lisbon, the Liver-Bile-Pancreas Transplant Centre (CH-B-PT) of Curry Cabral Hospital.

The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva attended, in the Cinema Museum of the Portuguese Film Library, in Lisbon, the performance of the film “The Pianist”, by Roman Polanski, included in the cinema cycle “The President’s Films”.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the President of the Agency for the Development of Creative Industries, Eng. Vergílio Folhadela.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, the officers of the Confederation of Portuguese Tourism.
The President of the Republic will visit next Friday, 28 May, three transplant centres – two in Lisbon and one in Coimbra – as a gesture of public recognition for the importance of these centres towards the success that Portugal has achieved in this area.
Ceremony in ISCSP
The President of the Republic attended, in the Higher Institute of Social and Political Sciences (ISCSP), in Lisbon, the award ceremony of the Honoris Causa Doctorate, by Lisbon Technical University, to the President of the Republic of Cape Verde, Commander Pedro Pires.
Prize award ceremony
The President of the Republic attended the ceremony, held in Lisbon, of the award of the 2009 Secil Civil Engineering Prize and of the Secil Universities Architecture and Civil Engineering Prizes.
