Presentation of scientific projects
The President of the Republic witnessed, in Aveiro University, the signature of a protocol creating a Chair related to the Sea, and attended the presentation of scientific projects developed in this area.
Visit to the Museum
The President of the Republic met, in the Ílhavo Maritime Museum, individualities connected with the Sea and with the Aveiro Inland Sea, where he delivered a speech to those present.
Military ceremony in Buçaco
The President of the Republic visited Bussaco, where he presided at the military ceremony commemorating the 200th anniversary of the battle which took place in those same hills, during the Peninsular War, at the time of the third French invasion, and in which the Portuguese troops were aided by the allied English army.
Yeatman Hotel
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act, in Gaia, of the Yeatman Hotel, a new hostelry of excellence in the county, which is distinguished because of its specialty in wines, located in the traditional Port wine cellar area, on a hill overlooking the River Douro.
Arrival in Gaia
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the Gaia Civic Centre, built around the City Hall, and was received in a ceremony held at the City Hall, where he was presented, by the Mayor and Aldermen, with the Gold Medal of Merit of the Municipality.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, a deputation of the General Workers’ Union (UGT).
Presentation of letters credential
The President of the Republic received letters credential from the new Ambassadors to Portugal.
The President of the Republic visited Figueiró dos Vinhos, where the local County Council presented him with the County Gold Medal, during a ceremony held in the Cultural Centre The President later presided at the inaugural act of the Professional Training Centre of the Institute of Employment and Professional Training.
The President of the Republic visited Castanheira de Pera, where he was presented with the County Medal of Honour, awarded by the local County Council. After this ceremony, the President viewed the local Kindergarten and the Rocas Beach.
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the Pedrógão Grande Educational Centre and visited its facilities. On the occasion he was presented with the County Gold Medal, awarded by the local County Council.
