The President of the Republic received the letters credential from the new resident Ambassadors in Portugal.
Prize presented to Gonçalo M. Tavares
The President of the Republic presided at the award ceremony of the Grand Prize for Romance and Novel of the Portuguese Authors’ Association, attributed to Gonçalo M. Tavares, held in the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
4th Conference of National Economists
The President of the Republic presided at the Opening Session of the 4th Conference of National Economists, held in the Lisbon University Institute Business Scholl, where he delivered an address.
The President of the Republic attends, on 28 and 29 October instant, the XXI Iberian American Summit of Heads of State and of Government which is being held in Asunción, capital of Paraguay.
Celso Amorim received in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Brazilian Minister of Defence, Ambassador Celso Amorim.
The President of the Republic has called a meeting of the Council of State to be held on 25 October instant, at 17:00 hours, with the following sole item on the Agenda: “Portugal within the context of the Euro Zone crisis”.

Three Head of State meeting in Genoa
The President of the Republic attended, with the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, and with King Dom Juan Carlos of Spain, the closing session of the VII COTEC Europa Meeting, at which he delivered an address.
Address delivered in the European University Institute
The President of the Republic delivered an address in Florence concerning the European Union and the lessons learnt from the crisis, specifically in the Euro zone, during a conference held in the European University Institute in Florence, Italy, which had invited him to take part in the “Europe under Debate” cycle.
President with the award winners
The President of the Republic attended the annual dinner of the Journalist’s Club, during which the 2010 Gazette Prizes were awarded. The ceremony was held in the headquarters of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Bank, in Lisbon.
