Mafra Palace Library
The President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva accompanied the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Dr. Heinz Fischer, and Mrs. Margit Fischer on a visit to Mafra National Palace, during which they viewed several wings of the building and its library, one of Europe’s richest, and attended, in the Basilica to a six organ musical performance.
The President of the Republic issued today the order appointing as President of the Organizing Committee for the Celebrations of the National Day of Portugal, Camões and the Portuguese Communities, which will be held in Lisbon in the current year, Prof. Doctor António Manuel Seixas Sampaio da Nóvoa.
Historic Posada in the Citadel
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the Cascais Posada, and unveiled a commemorative plaque celebrating the new posada of the Pestana Group, in the Cascais Citadel.
Dinner in Ajuda National Palace
On the occasion of the Official Visit to Portugal of the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Heinz Fischer, and Mrs. Margit Fischer, the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva hosted a dinner in Ajuda National Palace, at the beginning of which President Aníbal Cavaco Silva and his counterpart delivered speeches.

The President of the Republic received, in the Palace of Belém, the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, Heinz Fischer, as programmed for the latter’s official visit to Portugal.

The President of the Republic received, in audience, Ambassador Jorge Cabral, to hand him letters credential as Portuguese diplomatic reprsentative in Ankara, Turkey.
Audience in Belém
The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Governing Officers of the Historical Society of the Independence of Portugal.
New facilities in Nation’s Park
The President of the Republic presided at the inaugural act of the new headquarters of Microsoft Portugal, virtually unveiling an allusive plaque and later attending a presentation of the company and of its activities in the Country.
The President of the Republic of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, and his Wife, Mrs. Anna Komorowski, will hold a State Visit to Portugal on 19 and 20 April, at the invitation of President Aníbal Cavaco Silva.
Award ceremony
The President of the Republic attributed the title of Honorary ember of the Order of Merit to Radio Renascença broadcasting station on the occasion of its 75th anniversary, during a ceremony held in the Palace of Belém.
