Award Ceremony
The President of the Republic decorated, with various grades of the Portuguese Honorific orders, three individualities from the Portuguese Diaspora.
Ronald A. DePinho, Luso-American scientist and President of the MD Anderson Cancer Centre, of Texas University, in Houston, USA, and member of the Council of the Diaspora, was awarded the grade of Commander of the Military Order of Sant’Iago da Espada.
António Pargana, chairman of the Brazilian companies CISA Trading, Companhia Portuária Vila Velha and Companhia Energética de Petrolina, former Chairman of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in Brazil and member of the Council of the Diaspora, was awarded with the grade of Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator.
Pedro Gadanho, Curator of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York, USA, visiting professor in several European schools of Architecture, and member of the Council of the Diaspora, was awarded the grade of Commander of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator.
The President of the Republic delivered an address on the occasion.
