Ceremony on the Palace of Belém
The President of the Republic received the founder members of the Council of the Portuguese Diaspora who had taken part in the enactment of the Council, held in the Palace of Belém.
On the occasion, President Cavaco Silva and the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Paulo Portas, also subscribed an annex to the deed of enactment of the Council, accepting the offices of Honorary Chairman and Deputy Chairman of this association, whose mission is to aggregate the wide network of world influence constituted by outstanding Portuguese and Luso-descendant executives spread all over the world.
The ceremony comprised eleven of the 24 founder members of the Council, amongst which its first Chairman, Dr. Filipe de Botton.
