The President of the Republic will hold a State Visit to the Chinese People’s Republic at the invitation of His Excellency the President of the Chinese People’s Republic, Xi Jinping, between the dates of 13 and 18 May instant. In this Visit the President of the Republic will travel to Shanghai, Beijing and to the Macau Special Administrative Zone.
During the Visit, the President of the Republic will be received by the President of the Republic, by the Prime Minister and by the President of the National Congress of the Chinese People’s Republic as well as by the Mayor of Shanghai. The Head of State will also meet with the Head of Government of the Macau Special Administrative Zone.
In addition to the political agenda, the Visit will include important economic, cultural and academic components. Amongst the several initiatives to be held in these areas, the President of the Republic will preside at the opening session of an Economic Seminar in Shanghai and at the closure of another Economic Seminar in Beijing, and equally hold several working meetings with entrepreneurs from both countries. The President of the Republic will also visit universities in the three destinations included in the programme, where the economic value and the international projection of the Portuguese language will be emphasized, in addition to the dynamics of cooperation between universities of both countries in different fields of knowledge.
In the Visit, the President will be accompanied by Mrs. Cavaco Silva, by members of the Government, by a parliamentary delegation and an entrepreneurial retinue.
