Handover of the symbolic token
The President of the Republic attended, in Lamego, a first ever Handover Ceremony of the City-Venue of the National Day of Portugal, between the County Councils of Guarda and Lamego, chosen as the venues for the 10th June celebrations in 2014 and 2015.
The symbolic token chosen for the Handover was an art form produced in Guarda with the use of the locally traditional coarse cloth known as russet, and was presented by the respective Mayor, Álvaro Amaro, to his Lamego counterpart, Francisco Lopes.
The ceremony was held in the Officer’s Mess of the Centre for the Special Operations Forces.
