Meeting in the Palace of Belém
The Supreme Council for National Defence held an ordinary meeting chaired by the President of the Republic.
At the end of the meeting, which occurred in the Palace of Belém, the following communiqué was disclosed:
“The Supreme Council for National Defence held an ordinary meeting, received information and then debated the situation of the Armed Forces currently deployed in several countries in European, the Middle East and Africa, carrying out peace keeping and humanitarian aid missions, within the scope of the European Union, UNO and the Atlantic Alliance.
The Council gave a favourable view to the following proposals from the government: participation of eight military personnel, during one year, in the European Union’s operation in the Central African Republic, to aid the authorities in the sectors of security and management of their Armed Forces; participation of one additional Oceanic Patrol ship, within the scope of the Gulf of Guinea mission, approved in the previous meeting of the Council ".
