Portuguese products in evidence
Included in the Celebrations of the 104th Anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic, the Palace of Belém was opened to the public and housed several activities of the initiative “Portugal Is Me” as well as concerts comprised in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Museum of the Presidency of the Republic.
President Cavaco Silva visited, in the nurseries of the Waterfall Garden, the exhibition “Portugal Is Me”, included in the initiative with the same name and which showed a representative sample of Portuguese products – from the traditional to the innovative – originating from all the country’s regions, as well as samples of “Living Cuisine”.
The presentation of the “Portugal Is Me” Ambassadors, under the guidance of Cristina Ferreira, was followed by the investiture of the former marathon runner Rosa Mota as a new Ambassador of this initiative. Both Rosa Mota and the President of the Republic addressed brief words on this occasion.
Amongst the many “Portugal Is Me” Ambassadors, Carlos Coelho, Carolina Piteira, Cláudia Vieira, Cristina Ferreira, Cuca Roseta, Fernanda Freitas, Henrique Sá Pessoa and Justa Nobre were present.
Throughout the afternoon the public visited the Palace’s halls, its gardens and the Museum, with simultaneous musical performances and those of the Traditional Cinfães Band, the Choir of Gouveia Holy Almshouse, the Miranda “Pauliteiros”, the Juvenile Light Orchestra of D. Maria Pia Centre for Education and Development from the Lisbon “Casa Pia” School, Choir of the Trofa County Infant Singers and, at the closure, Júlio Resende, who presented his “Amália” Project.
