End of Conference
The President of the Republic closed the international conference “Portugal – April Routes: Democracy, Compromise and Development”, which he promoted in Lisbon, within the scope of the Routes to the Future initiative, and in which the final debates were focused on the challenges faced by Development.
In the second session of the Conference, the topics of the two debating panels dedicated to Development were, respectively, “Modernity and knowledge society” and “Innovation, sustainability and competitiveness”.
Discussion leaders of the panels were Maria da Graça Carvalho, Member of the European Parliament, and Carlos Costa, Governor of the Bank of Portugal, and the speakers were Peter Wagner, from the ICREA Institute, University of Barcelona, Eduardo Marçal Grilo, former Minister of Education, Dominique Foray, from the Lausanne Federal Polytechnic School, Switzerland, and Francisco Veloso, from the Portuguese Catholic University – Catholic Lisbon School of Business & Economics.
At the closure of the Conference, the President of the Republic addressed a speech.
