Welcome greetings from President Bronislaw Komorowski
The President of the Republic attended the Informal Meeting of the European Heads of State comprising the so called Arraiolos Group, which was held in Krakow, Poland. Two plenary sessions were held on the first day, during which several topics concerning European current affairs were approached.
Representing ten European Union Member Countries – Germany, Slovenia, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Poland and Portugal, as well as Bulgaria and Estonia who were invited as observers – the non executive Presidents that comprise the Group started by approaching the thresholds for the European crisis, as well as the transatlantic relationships, between the European Union, the United States of America and other countries in the American continent.
Outside the scope of the meetings, President Cavaco Silva held bilateral talks with several of his counterparts and other participants in the encounter.
At the end of the two first sessions of the meeting, the Heads of State visited, in the centre of the Polish city, the Church of Saint Mary, where an organ concert was performed, and later took part in a dinner hosted in their honour by the President of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski, held in the Sukiennice Museum.
