Encounter with Portuguese from Sweden
At the end of the second day of his State Visit, the President of the Republic held a meeting, in Stockholm, with the Portuguese Community in Sweden.
After a retribution reception hosted in honour of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Sylvia, which included a performance of Portuguese “fado” songstress Cuca Roseta, President Cavaco Silva addressed a few hundred Portuguese residing in Sweden.
The President took the opportunity to award national decorations to several members of the Community.
University lecturer Amadeu dos Santos Batel was decorated with the grade of Commander of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator and the Lusitânia Association as an Honorary Member of the same Order.
Electro technical engineer José António Murta e Silva was decorated with the grade of Commander of the Order of Merit, researcher and professor Ana Rita Branquinho Nordberg the grade of Officer in the same Order and entrepreneur Teresa Mateus Lundhal decorated with the grade of Commander of the Order of Entrepreneurial Merit, Industry Class.
