Prizes awarded to Nepalese institutions
The President of the Republic presided, in the headquarters of the Champalimaud Foundation, in Lisbon, at the award ceremony of the 2013 António Champalimaud Vision Prize, which distinguished, in this edition, four Nepalese institutions, an example of success in the collaboration for the provision of ophthalmologic health care to the needy people of Nepal, who are lacking in financial conditions and access to treatment of blindness.
The Champalimaud Vision Prize, which in 2013 carries unarguable humanitarian features, benefited the Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh NGO (NNJS), the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, the Sagarmatha Choudhary Eye Hospital and the Lumbini Eye Institute. The three latter bodies are participants in the Nepal Eye Programme.
