The President of the Republic received, in audience, the Prime Minister, accepted the proposal put forward for the discharge of members of the Government and appointment of new members, and set the date for the empowerment ceremony.
The Presidency of the Republic publishes the following communiqué concerning the matter:
“In the terms of item h) of article no. 133 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal put forward by the Prime Minster for the discharge, at their request, of the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Paulo Sacadura Cabral Portas, of the Minister of the Economy and Employment, Prof. Doctor Álvaro Santos Pereira, of the Minister of Agriculture, Sea, Environment and Territorial Planning, Doctor Maria da Assunção de Oliveira Cristas Machado da Graça, and of the Minister of Solidarity and Social Security, Dr. Luis Pedro Russo da Mota Soares.
In the terms of the same constitutional ruling, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal put forward by the Prime Minister for the appointment of the Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Paulo Sacadura Cabral Portas, of the Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Rui Manuel Parente Chancerelle de Machete, of the Minister of Economy, Master António de Magalhães Pires de Lima, of the Minister of the Environment, Territorial Planning and Energy, Eng. Jorge Manuel Lopes Moreira da Silva, of the Minister of Agriculture and the Sea, Doctor Maria da Assunção de Oliveira Cristas Machado da Graça, and of the Minister of Solidarity, Employment and Social Security, Dr. Luis Pedro Russo da Mota Soares.
The President of the Republic will empower the new members of the Government on Wednesday, 24 July, at 17:00 hours, in the Palace of Belém”.
