The President of the Republic travels to Strasbourg and Brussels from 11 to 13 June next, where he will hold meetings with the officers responsible for the European Institutions and address a speech at a plenary meeting of the European Parliament.
In Strasbourg, President Cavaco Silva will meet with the Speaker of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, and will also hold meetings with the Vice Presidents and Presidents of the Political Groups, as well as with Portuguese MEP’s, before his address to the European Parliament.
The programme of the Brussels visit will include a meeting with the President of the Council of Europe, Herman Van Rompuy, a meeting with the President of the European Committee, José Manuel Durão Barroso, and a lunch that President Durão Barroso will host in his honour where several members of the College of Commissioners will also be present.
Both in Strasbourg and Brussels, the President of the Republic will also hold meetings with Portuguese nationals that hold offices in European Institutions.
