Air Force Academy
The President of the Republic presided, in Sintra, at the Swearing of the Colour Ceremony of the Air Force Academy 1st year cadets.
Present at the ceremony were the Minister for National Defence, the Mayor of Sintra, the Chairman of the Parliamentary National Defence Committee, the Assistant Secretary of State and for National Defence, the Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff and the Chiefs of General Staff of the Branches of the Armed Forces.
After the military ceremony, President Cavaco Silva had the opportunity to contact the teaching staff and the students of the Academy, to whom he addressed a few words, as well as to members of their families present there.
During his intercourse with the cadets, the President reinforced the importance of personal valuation as the best means to face the challenges of the future and alluded to the special significance of the ceremony to which he had just presided.
