The President of the Republic of Turkey, Abdullah Gül, and his Wife, Mrs. Hayrünnisa Gül, will carry out a State Visit to Portugal from 5 to 8 May next, at the invitation of President Cavaco Silva.
The visit’s official programme will commence, on 6 May, with the laying of a wreath, by President Abdullah Gül, on the tomb of Luis Vaz de Camões, in the Jerónimos Monastery. President Abdullah Gül and his Wife will be received, in the Palace of Belém, by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, this being followed by a meeting between the two Heads of State.
President Abdullah Gül will later be received by the Portuguese Prime Minister who will host a luncheon in his honour.
On the afternoon of the same day, President Gül will also hold a meeting with the Speaker of Parliament and later visit the Lisbon City Hall.
The programme of the first day will end with a dinner, held in the Palace of Queluz, hosted by the President of the Republic and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, in honour of the President of Turkey and his Wife.
On 7 May, the President of the Republic and the President of the Republic of Turkey will preside at the closure of the Portugal-Turkey Entrepreneurial Meeting, in which business opportunities will be approached, as well as strategies for the strengthening of entrepreneurial cooperation between both countries.
In his visit to Portugal, the President of the Republic of Turkey will be accompanied by several members of the Turkish Government and by an expressive entrepreneurial delegation.
