Meeting in Bogotá
The President of the Republic held a meeting, in Bogotá, with his counterpart Juan Manuel Santos, at the beginning of the State Visit he is carrying out in Colombia.
Received with a Guard of Honour in the Bogotá Presidential Palace, Casa de Nariño, President Cavaco Silva then held a restricted meeting with the President of Colombia, which was later joined by both countries’ delegations.
At the end, both Heads of State made declarations to the media.
President Juan Manuel Santos later hosted a State luncheon in the honour of the Portuguese President and Mrs. Cavaco Silva, during which both Heads of State addressed speeches.
Prior to this President Cavaco Silva rendered tribute to Simón Bolivar, the South American liberating hero that founded and presided, in the 19th century, to Greater Colombia, the first union of independent states in Latin America, laying a wreath on the monument erected in his memory.
