In the terms of item h) of article No. 133 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic accepted the proposal put forward by the Prime Minister to relieve from duties, at their request, Dr. Francisco José Pereira de Almeida Viegas, as Secretary of State for Culture, and Prof. Doctor Isabel Maria Santos Silva Leite, as Secretary of State for Basic and Secondary Education.
In the terms of the same constitutional provision, the President of the Republic accepted the Prime Minister’s proposal for the appointment of Dr. Jorge Barreto Xavier and Master João Henrique de Carvalho Dias Grancho, respectively, to the above referred offices.
The President of the Republic equally accepted he Prime Minister’s proposal to appoint Doctor Manuel Luis Rodrigues to the office of Secretary of State for Finance, as well as that of Master Maria Luis Casanova Morgado Dias de Albuquerque, that fulfilled the office of Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, to the office of Secretary of State for Treasury.
The President of the Republic will empower the new members of the Government tomorrow, 26 October, at 12:30 hours.
